Environmental Policy
Hawthorn Accountancy Solutions specialises in production of monthly accounts, cashflows, budgets, implementing Sage software, credit control and bookkeeping and payroll solutions. We recognise that, as with all businesses, activities result in environmental impact. Therefore through an environmental review we have identified and prioritised significant impacts to provide baseline data for continually improving our environmental performance.
Adverse environmental impact is low and activities revolve around office type operations, however we are aware that we impact on both the local and global environment. This includes:
- Use of electricity generated from burning fossil fuels used for lighting and powering electronic equipment. This results in production of gases linked to the green house effect, global warming and in adverse health effects in humans and the environment.
- Transport used when visiting existing and potential clients, which as with the production of electricity results in impact on air quality and consumption of finite resources.
- Consumption of paper for communicating data. This results in consumption of natural resources, paper production is energy intensive and often requires transport over long distances from raw material to delivery of final product.
- Generation of small quantities of waste including general type, paper and computer cartridges. The landfill of waste results in production of landfill gases linked to adverse health effects in humans, global warming and the green house effect.
Through implementing an Environmental Management System complying with Level 2 of the Green Dragon Environmental Standard we are committed to minimising our environmental impact. Specifically we will:
- Ensure we remain aware of and comply with all relevant environmental legislation in all aspects of Hawthorn’s activities.
- Address our key environmental impacts to prevent pollution at source.
- Continually improve our environmental performance through setting and achieving annual objectives. This year we will monitor and minimise consumption of paper and electricity. We will also recycle paper and computer cartridges to make use of valuable resources otherwise destined for landfill.
This policy is communicated to business stakeholders including our customers and is available on request. The policy is reviewed annually or in the event of significant change to environmental impacts or applicable legislation. Approved by ………………………..……
